Our 6th campfire and the first of 2026, is this coming Wednesday 14th January 2026 from 6pm to 10pm, at a private plot we hire at the Stanmer Wellbeing Gardens. Join us to land together in the new year! ❄️

What is Kindling Space?
I started Kindling Space a few years ago as a peer support campfire group, for women with lived experience of trauma. We had many magical evenings together around the fire. ✨ It hasn’t been running for a while and I’m inspired to start it again. This time with more of a focus on social connections.

So, Kindling Space is hosting regular campfires at a Stanmer Organics plot this winter. Drop-in sessions for all genders and ages, to build our community. We are alternating the days for our meetings, to allow people with different schedules to attend. 🔥

The meetings are loosely facilitated and develop organically, with lots of time and space to naturally connect with each other and chat about things around the campfire whilst cooking and sharing.  😊

When is it?
We have already had five wonderful evenings around the campfire in November & December 2025. This sixth campfire will be on Wednesday 14th January from 6-10pm.

Who is it for?
This meeting is for mixed genders, of all ages. Children are welcome from 6-8pm and 8-10pm is for adults 18+ only. Well-behaved dogs are welcome. 🐶

How many people will be there?
The aim is for a group size of approx. 6-12 people, to give us the opportunity to connect with each other. The fewest people we've had is 4 (plus 1 dog), and the most is 14 plus 2 dogs! I will let you know in the joining instructions how many to expect, roughly. It's magical to be part of a Kindling Space, each campfire takes on its own energy depending on who joins us. Sometimes the experience is not what we are expecting, yet gives us just what we need.

Where is it?
The campfire is hosted at a private space in the Stanmer Wellbeing Gardens. It has good accessibility and basic infrastructure to be comfortable in the winter months. ❄️ The plot we are using can be tricky to find, so we send a meeting point and joining instructions in advance to everyone who books here.

What to bring?
We cook together over the fire (a highlight of the evening!), so please bring food, snacks and drinks to share. You are invited to bring things to play & share (musical instruments, art, movement practices etc.). There are logs to sit on, but please bring a blanket & cushion if you want to make yourself comfy. Wear suitable warm clothes and shoes - the ground is uneven and muddy. It is a sober space,  don’t bring alcohol or other substances.

What about the weather?
The weather looks good for Wednesday. There shouldn't be much rain, but there is a covered space we can use in case. It will be cold enough to appreciate a campfire but not freezing, and hopefully with a good view of the stars! If the forecast changes drastically, we will move it to another date and you can move your booking to any future campfire.

How much is it?
This is a non-commercial not-for-profit peer support gathering. I ask for a donation to cover plot hire, firewood and other small expenses which I have to pay up front. It’s pay-as-you-feel with a recommended donation of £5 low income / £10 standard / £15 supporter. Additional donations are welcome if you are able and keen to support us. 🙏🏼

What happens if I can't make it?
I know that life happens, plans and health can change at the last minute. I can't refund tickets as I need to plan numbers and cover costs, but you are welcome to transfer it to someone else via our WhatsApp group. If we have to cancel or move the campfire, you are welcome at any future date instead.
