Kindling Space - October 2026

18:00 Thu, 15 Oct '26
Stanmer Wellbeing Gardens, Stanmer Park, Brighton, BN1 9SE
Kindling Space is excited to host our first campfire of the autumn/winter 2026 season! Join us on Thursday 15th October 2026 from 6pm to 9pm, at a private plot at Stanmer Park, Brighton.

What is Kindling Space?
Kindling Space is a community group that hosts regular social campfires. The idea is to meet new people, enjoy nature together, and connect with peers around a campfire. We are open to all genders and ages, and actively want to grow our community. We are planning on hosting 2 campfires a month, on weekday & weekends, to allow people with different schedules to attend.

It's magical to be part of a Kindling Space, each campfire takes on its own energy depending on who joins us. Sometimes the experience is not what we are expecting, yet gives us just what we need. Let's get back to connecting in person, just like nature intended!

When is it?
Thursday 15th October 2026, in the evening from 6 - 9pm.

Who is it for?
This meeting is for mixed genders, of all ages. Children are welcome from 6-8pm and 8-9pm is for adults 18+ only. Well-behaved dogs are welcome.

How many people will be there?
We aim for a group size of approx. 5-15 people, to give us the opportunity to connect with each other.

Is there an agenda for the meetings?
No. This isn't like a typical workshop. The meetings are free-flow, loosely facilitated and develop organically, with lots of time and space to naturally connect with each other and chat about things around the campfire.

Where is it?
We hire a private space in the Stanmer Wellbeing Gardens. It has good accessibility and basic infrastructure to be comfortable in the colder months. We send a meeting point and joining instructions to everyone who books here.

What to bring?
We cook together over the fire (a highlight of the evening), so please bring food, snacks and non-alcoholic drinks to share. You are invited to bring things to play & share (musical instruments, art, movement practices etc.). There are logs to sit on, they might be wet and cold, so bring a blanket & cushion to make yourself comfy. Wear suitable warm clothes and shoes.

What not to bring?
Kindling Space is a sober gathering, don’t bring alcohol. Don't bring dogs that won't settle quietly. Don't bring Bluetooth speakers. Please use your common sense around what else is best left at home.

Are there any other rules?
Our guiding principles are to be respectful to yourself, each other, and to nature. We don't tolerate aggressive, threatening, discriminatory or persistently disruptive behaviour. Respect people’s boundaries and ask for consent where necessary. Don’t repeat what somebody has shared in a way that could identify them. We follow a leave no trace principle: take our rubbish with us, respect wildlife and plants, leave the space as we found it.

Do I have to speak to others?
There’s no pressure to speak, share or take part in anything. You’re welcome to sit quietly amongst us around the fire, step away, wander off for a bit, or leave whenever you need to.

What about the weather?
The space we use has two fire pits, one under the open sky, and one under a parachute. We choose where to light the fire depending on the weather. It will be cold enough to appreciate a campfire but not freezing, and hopefully with a good view of the stars! If stormy weather is forecast, we will move it to another date and you can move your booking.

How much is it?
This is a not-for-profit peer support gathering. Donations cover plot hire, firewood and other small expenses. It’s pay-as-you-feel, £5 low income / £10 standard / £15 supporter.

How to join?
Please reserve your space in advance. Enter your email address below to login, and choose a donation option to sign up for a space. Spaces are limited and we usually have a lot more interest than spaces. If we're full, keep an eye out for our next campfire coming very soon!

What happens if I can't make it?
Life happens, plans and health can change at the last minute. We can't refund tickets, but you are welcome to transfer it to someone else. If we have to cancel or move the campfire, you are welcome at any future date instead.

Is there a WhatsApp Group?
Yes! Please contact us via our website for the link. We have a general community announcement channel, and a group for everyone who books to attend a campfire.

Who is running this?
Hi, I'm Eleanor! I created Kindling Space and enjoy facilitating our campfires. I am a 36-year-old woman and live in Brighton with my friendly little dog. I used to live on boats and in my van. I am a creative social entrepreneur and have lots of lived experience of mental health and a peer support qualification. I'm passionate about helping connect people in creative ways. I'd love to grow our community of volunteers to help facilitate more frequent campfires.

Let me know if you have any questions or if you’d like to get involved in another way. You can contact me via our website at: www.KindlingSpace.co 🔥

After choosing tickets, they are reserved for 10 mins to allow time for checkout and payment.
